Columbia University, officially Columbia University in the City of New York, [7] is a private Ivy League research university in New York City.Established in 1754 as King's College on the grounds of Trinity Church in Manhattan, it is the oldest institution of higher education in New York and the fifth-oldest in the United States.
The UCF College of Medicine was established in 2006 by the Florida Legislature and the Florida Board of Governors to increase opportunities for medical education in Florida. The College of Medicine welcomed its charter class of 41 students on August 3, 2009, and eventually will produce about 120 medical graduates a year.

The CUNY Board of Trustees approved the Graduate School of Journalism's creation in May 2004. [1] Proposed by CUNY Chancellor Matthew Goldstein, the school was to focus on teaching reporting skills and news values at a time when other journalism schools were emphasizing education in academic disciplines such as political science and statistics.

The young author Zora Neale Hurston taught at the school in 1942; she lived on the second floor of a two-story house at 791 West King Street, just east of the campus. [6] The school's name was changed in 1950 to Florida Normal and Industrial Memorial College. In 1963, the charter was amended to change the name to Florida Memorial College.
Also in 1955, the school's football team had its first winning year, and the school started its first marching band. In 1955-6, the school greatly increased the activities available to the students. Until 2001, the school was located on the FSU campus. In 2001, the new Florida High building in Southwood was opened.
