The baseball team reached the Division II College World Series in 2004, and has hosted the Division II College World Series regionals. The football team for the first time in school history reached the NCAA Tournament in 2006, losing in the Regionals 31–29 to West Chester University .

Klosterman played college baseball at Clemson University in 2001 and at Vanderbilt University from 2002 to 2004 for coach Tim Corbin and in Minor League Baseball (MiLB) for eight seasons from 2004 to 2011.
