The 2023 New York City Marathon is the 52nd edition of the annual marathon race in New York City that took place on Sunday, November 5, 2023. A Platinum Label marathon, it was the last of six World Marathon Majors events in 2023.
The New York City Marathon, currently branded as the TCS New York City Marathon for sponsorship reasons, is an annual marathon (42.195 km or 26.219 mi) that courses through the five boroughs of New York City.
In total, 35 men and 30 women have won the open division of the New York City Marathon, while nine men and seven women have won the wheelchair division. The winners have represented 22 countries: Americans have won the marathon the most, doing so on 32 occasions; Kenyans have won 26 times; and Norwegians 10 times.
While certain qualifications for the 2024 New York City Marathon are not available anymore, there are still some ways to register.
If you aren’t in NYC, the marathon is available to anyone in the US by watching the livestream on ESPN2 or WABC-TV from 8 to 11.30am. The race will also be streamed on Watch ESPN.
People who want to cheer on a family member or friend running the marathon can download the TCS New York City Marathon app, which is available for free on the Apple and Google Play stores.
The women's wheelchair event was won by American Susannah Scaroni in a course record time of 1:42:43; [20] her time was 21 seconds better than the previous record, which had been set by Tatyana McFadden in 2015. [25] It was Scaroni's first New York City Marathon victory. [25]

The wheelchair men's event was won by Switzerland's Marcel Hug; it was his fourth New York City Marathon victory, and his fourth World Marathon Major victory of 2021. Hug led the race throughout; after 20 kilometres (12 mi), he had a lead of three minutes over Briton David Weir, and was on track to beat the course record.
