The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has announced additional progress on its rollout of OMNY, the system's new contactless payment system that is set to replace the MetroCard in 2023.
In October 2021, the MTA started selling a physical OMNY card at certain retail locations throughout New York City, such as CVS, 7/11 and Duane Reade drugstores, as well as bodegas, CFSC Check Cashing, and dollar stores that sold MetroCards.
