The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) is a public university in Ewing Township, New Jersey.It is part of New Jersey's public system of higher education. Established in 1855 as the New Jersey State Normal School, [1] TCNJ was the first normal school, or teaching college, in the state of New Jersey and the fifth in the United States. [8]
In 2017 Janno Lieber became MTA Capital Construction president; [2] in 2021 he was appointed Acting Chair of the MTA. [3] Projects being built under MTA Capital Construction include the East Side Access and phases 2, 3, and 4 of the Second Avenue Subway.
The MTA purchased and took over subway, elevated, streetcar, and bus operations from the Boston Elevated Railway in 1947. [15] In the 1950s, the MTA ran new subway extensions, while the last two streetcar lines running into the Pleasant Street Portal of the Tremont Street Subway were substituted with buses in 1953 and 1962. On Thursday, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) officially opened a new pedestrian tunnel connecting the World Trade Center transportation hub to the nearby Fulton Center subway station.
The MTA had announced in October 2002 that it had planned to merge the LIRR and the Metro-North Railroad into a new entity, to be called MTA Rail Road, [181] a merger which required approval by the New York Legislature. The Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority (TBTA), doing business as MTA Bridges and Tunnels, is an affiliate agency of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority that operates seven toll bridges and two tunnels in New York City. The TBTA is the largest bridge and tunnel toll agency in the United States by traffic volume.
