On January 17, 2022, a heavy snowfall of 55 centimetres (22 in) crippled public transit in Toronto, [47] including the TTC's subway, streetcar and bus systems. The TTC reported that 540 of its 1,300 vehicles in service were disabled on the street, including buses, which normally do not use snow tires. [ 48 ]
