WGU Indiana is a private, non-profit online school established by the state of Indiana to expand access to higher education for Indiana residents, which is a branch campus of Western Governors University.
In 2010, the first state-established offshoot, WGU Indiana, was founded by Mitch Daniels, governor of Indiana, and the school reached 20,000 students for the first time. In 2011, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation provided $4.5 million for WGU Indiana and the creation of WGU Texas and WGU Washington.
It is also the state's largest public postsecondary institution, and the nation's largest individual accredited statewide community college system, serving nearly 100,000 students annually on campus and online and another 60,000+ dual credit students in high schools throughout Indiana. [1]
