Paul William "Bear" Bryant (September 11, 1913 – January 26, 1983) was an American college football player and coach. He is considered by many to be one of the greatest college football coaches of all time, and best known as the head coach of the University of Alabama football team from 1958 to 1982.
Bryant caught seven passes for 51 yards and returned eight kickoffs for a team leading 210 yards during his freshman season. [5] He became a starter during his sophomore season. [ 6 ] Bryant finished the season with 44 receptions for 579 yards and seven touchdowns and also returned 11 punts for 50 yards and 16 kickoffs for 413 yards.
