In 2022, MTA Maryland proposed a plan to reintroduce QuickBus-like service with a new branding under "QuickLink" to be included into Fall 2022 service changes. The service proposal would include an east–west limited-stop bus route as a pilot service named QuickLink 40.
In April 2022, the MTA announced a proposal to revive the route before the end of the same year as the QuickLink 40. On August 27, 2023, the QuickLink 40 was brought back, however, it only runs on weekdays and runs to North Bend Loop in Westgate instead of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in Woodlawn .

The line currently runs from the University of Maryland Transit Center to the Lutherville Light Rail Stop along the corridors of York Road and Greenmount Avenue , and is the most heavily used MTA bus line.
