It is located on Puget Sound between Edmonds and Everett, approximately 25 miles (40 km) north of Seattle. On July 30, 2016, a mass shooting occurred during a house party held by students of the University of Washington and Kamiak High School in the community of Mukilteo. Three people were killed and a fourth was injured. Afterwards, the gunman fled the scene.
