Lower Manhattan, also known as Downtown Manhattan or Downtown New York, is the southernmost part of Manhattan, the central borough of New York City. The neighborhood is the historical birthplace of New York City [2] and for its first 225 years was the entirety of the city.
Upper Manhattan is the area above 96th Street. Midtown Manhattan is the area between 34th Street and 59th Street. Lower Manhattan is the area below 14th Street.
