Back n da Hood is a 1992 EP by hyphy Bay Area rapper Mac Dre. It was recorded live from the Fresno County Jail and USP Lompoc over the phone. Its lyrics are about life in Fresno County Jail, and about himself in early life. The original issue of this album was only on cassette.
Andre Louis Hicks (July 5, 1970 – November 1, 2004), known by his stage name Mac Dre, was an American rapper from Vallejo, California. He was an instrumental figure in the emergence of hyphy, a cultural movement in the Bay Area hip hop scene that emerged in the early 2000s.
This is the discography of American rapper, Mac Dre. In the late 1980s, he released three albums with what TIME Magazine called "the raunchiness typical of West Coast rap". [1] In the 1990s, he received a five-year sentence but managed to record two albums over the phone. [1]
The album contains several new recordings as well as most of the tracks from the rapper's previous EP, What's Really Going On?, and three tracks from the sessions for Back N' Da Hood, including the full version of "My Chevy" featuring Mac Mall – the first 1 and a half minutes appeared on the original EP.
The Game Is Thick ... Part 2 is the eleventh and final studio album by Bay Area rapper Mac Dre released on October 19, 2004. The album was released just 13 days before an unknown assailant shot and killed Hicks while driving on a freeway in Kansas City, Missouri.
