In the Oracle RDBMS environment, redo logs comprise files in a proprietary format which log a history of all changes made to the database. Each redo log file consists of redo records. A redo record, also called a redo entry, holds a group of change vectors, each of which describes or represents a change made to a single block in the database.
Advantages. Data Guard provides high availability for a database system. It can also reduce the human intervention required to switch between databases at disaster-recovery ("failover") or upgrade / maintenance ("switchover") time. Through the use of standby redo log files, Data Guard can minimize data loss.
Transaction log. In the field of databases in computer science, a transaction log (also transaction journal, database log, binary log or audit trail) is a history of actions executed by a database management system used to guarantee ACID properties over crashes or hardware failures.
Oracle LogMiner, a utility provided by Oracle Corporation to purchasers of its Oracle database, provides methods of querying logged changes made to an Oracle database, principally through SQL commands referencing data in Oracle redo logs.
A write ahead log is an append-only auxiliary disk-resident structure used for crash and transaction recovery. The changes are first recorded in the log, which must be written to stable storage, before the changes are written to the database. The main functionality of a write-ahead log can be summarized as:
Oracle Database (commonly referred to as Oracle DBMS, Oracle Autonomous Database, or simply as Oracle) is a proprietary multi-model [4] database management system produced and marketed by Oracle Corporation . It is a database commonly used for running online transaction processing (OLTP), data warehousing (DW) and mixed (OLTP & DW) database ...

In computing, logging is the act of keeping a log of events that occur in a computer system, such as problems, errors or just information on current operations. These events may occur in the operating system or in other software. A message or log entry is recorded for each such event.
Log shipping is the process of automating the backup of transaction log files on a primary (production) database server, and then restoring them onto a standby server. This technique is supported by Microsoft SQL Server, [1] 4D Server, [2] MySQL, [3] and PostgreSQL.
Oracle Cloud File System (CloudFS) is a storage management suite developed by Oracle Corporation. CloudFS consists of a cluster file system called ASM Cluster File System ( ACFS ), and a cluster volume manager called ASM Dynamic Volume Manager ( ADVM ) initially released in August 2007.
