Mount Allison University (also Mount A or MtA) is a Canadian primarily undergraduate liberal arts university located in Sackville, New Brunswick, founded in 1839. Mount Allison was the first university in the British Empire to award a baccalaureate to a woman ( Grace Annie Lockhart , B.Sc., 1875).

Grace Annie Lockhart. Grace Annie Lockhart (22 February 1855 – 18 May 1916) was the first woman in the British Empire to receive a Bachelor's degree. She formally enrolled in Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada in 1874 and graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science and English Literature on 25 May 1875.
David Allison (July 3, 1836 – February 13, 1924) was a Canadian professor, administrator and author. He was president both of Mount Allison College and later of Mount Allison University from 1869 to 1878 and from 1891 to 1911, respectively. He was born in Newport, Nova Scotia, the son of James Whidden Allison and Margaret Elder.
