Instructure, Inc. is an educational technology company based in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. It is the developer and publisher of Canvas, a web-based learning management system (LMS), and Mastery Connect, an assessment management system.
CU Online employs Canvas by Instructure. Canvas is Cloud based, and CU Denver uses it for its completely online courses as well a supplement for the on campus courses in the form of blended learning, which means it doesn’t distinguish between supplemental course use and blended/hybrid courses.

[2] [3] In 2015, Cale Bruckner was promoted to President of the company. [4]
Most institutions utilize LMSs by external vendors (77%), Blackboard currently dominates the LMS environment with an adoption rate of 31.9%, followed by Moodle at 19.1%, and Canvas at 15.3%. [30] However, in the last year Canvas, by Instructure, has gained an increasing amount of the market share (see graphic).
The school is largely technology based, utilizing Canvas, from Instructure to assign and turn in schoolwork. Each student is assigned an iPad based on their grade level, and Apple laptops are available for services not available on the iPad. [4]
