Opened in 2003, Palm Beach Central currently has over 3,000 students (2,966 in the 2019-20 school year) enrolled in grades nine through twelve. The school's mascot is the bronco, or bucking horse.
The school opened as Forest Hill High School in 1959; it is situated next to the West Palm Beach Country Club and I-95 in the southwestern corner of the City of West Palm Beach on a compact 17.38-acre (70,300 m 2) tract. A larger building replaced the original structure on the same site in 2004. The school was first accredited in 1961.
While the number of new students in Palm Beach County schools doubled this year over last, neither growth rate, both under 0.5%, rival the years of biggest growth in schoolchildren from 2010 to 2018.
