Hello all, apologize if this has been covered, I could not find it during a search. I am going to look at a 2018 S (75D) on Saturday and plan to purchase. One of the things the dealer cannot tell me (not a Tesla expert) is if it has MCU1 or MCU2. I know that MCU was still used in the "early...
The old MCU lasted that long. I assume that everyone with the MCU/2 (Intel based) could purchase an optional MCU/3 with the AMD processor some time in a distant future once the Intel is determined to be EOL, but like the MCU/1, it may be 6 to 7 years from now. No reason to worry about that now.
Just a post to give my experience upgrading from MCU1 to MCU2. My car prior to upgrade: 2017 Refresh Model S, MCU1, AP2.5, Sunroof, Sirius XM, AM/FM, LTE, FUSC, WiFi 2.4GHz, Free Premium Connectivity, EMMC Recall active, Autopilot (not FSD) My car Post Upgrade: Still 2017 Refresh Model S...

I'd like to search for a MCU3 on ebay, but 1637790 only brings up MCU-Z. And for instance when I search on ebay and look at pics, I can see lots of other model numbers like 1775000 or 1684435 or 1681271 which aren't listed in that table, and ideally I'd like to create a saved ebay search for a known-correct part number.
Hello, My 2021 model Y MCU not booting anymore. As can seen in the picture, 3 lights on with no blinking lights and no outputs. Any suggestions/help please?

The only way to replace a dead MCU is with a new one from Tesla - cost $2,700 outside of warranty. One consolation is that they come with a one-year warranty. Working used MCU's will now go to landfill instead of being used as replacements for dead MCUs. So much for Elon's concern for the environment.
Just scheduled my appointment to upgrade from HW2 to HW 3 and MCU2 upgrade. The HW 3 upgrade is free but the MCU 2 upgrade is 2500. I think it's totally worht the upgrade. I have been happy with autopilot and driving most of my miles with it
I wrote to their European HQ a couple of times, they refused. The only thing they would do is replace my MCU and only charge for the parts. As I refused to pay the ~EUR 2000 for a new MCU I send my failed eMMC chip to Poland: Multi-Com.eu » Cell Phone Service, Repair, Unlock - Software, Tools, Devices
