This is a list of towns in New York. As of the 2020 United States population census, the 62 counties of the State of New York are subdivided into 933 towns, 62 cities, and 10 American Indian reservations.
As of 2009, New York has 62 counties (including New York City's five boroughs), which are subdivided into 933 towns and 61 cities (including Geneva in both Ontario and Seneca counties, but excluding New York City and Sherrill).

Albany, the state capital, is the sixth-largest city in the State of New York. The smallest city is Sherrill, New York, in Oneida County. Hempstead is the most populous town in the state; if it were a city, it would be the second-largest in the State of New York, with more than 700,000 residents.
