Paul William "Bear" Bryant (September 11, 1913 – January 26, 1983) was an American college football player and coach. He is considered by many to be one of the greatest college football coaches of all time, and best known as the head coach of the University of Alabama football team from 1958 to 1982.
The school was founded 1858, under the name of Bryant, Stratton & Packard's Mercantile College, by Mr. S. S. Packard and was the New York branch of a chain known as the Bryant & Stratton chain of business colleges.

[1] Together with her father and seven others, she died in a helicopter crash in 2020 at age 13.
In 1872 Stowell became a faculty member at Bryant, which was then located in Providence, and in 1878 he became principal and purchased the school from the Bryant and Stratton families. Stowell served as president until his death 1916 at which point Bryant College completed its merger with Henry Jacobs' Rhode Island Commercial School.

Henry Duncan Stratton (10 May 1870 – 26 February 1958) was an English cricketer active from 1897 to 1914. Born at Wolverhampton , Staffordshire , he was a right-handed batsman who made four appearances in first-class cricket , but was mostly associated with minor counties cricket .
