In June 2010, the L.A. city attorney filed a civil lawsuit against 11 alleged members or alleged former members of the MTA crew. [7] The suit had asked for $5,000,000 in restitution from the 11 defendants and was seeking a first-of-its-kind injunction against a graffiti crew, an injunction modeled on those made for violent street gangs.
As part of a pilot program by the MTA to make five bus routes free (one in each borough), the B60, Bx18, M116, Q4, and S46/96 were selected as fare-free routes in July 2023. [ 86 ] [ 87 ] The pilot program would last six to twelve months and buses would display a "Fare Free" sign, similar to the one used on the Q70 . [ 88 ]
The MTA has installed retail spaces within paid areas in selected stations, including the station concourses of the Times Square–Port Authority complex, the 59th Street–Columbus Circle station, and the 47th–50th Streets–Rockefeller Center station.
