Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) is an alkaline, cementitious dental repair material. MTA is used for creating apical plugs during apexification, repairing root perforations during root canal therapy, and treating internal root resorption.

The MTA estimated that eliminating skip-stop service only added 2 + 1 ⁄ 2 to 3 minutes of travel time for passengers at the northernmost stations at 242nd Street and 238th Street, while many passengers would see trains frequencies double, resulting in decreased overall travel time because of less time waiting for trains. The MTA started planning for a far west side service in 2013, in conjunction with the 7 train's extension to 34 Street - Hudson Yards. [5] It originally was planned to go from 59th Street to Spring Street, via the West Side Highway until 14th Street, and Washington / Greenwich Streets south of there.
