Devices no longer supporting iPlayer etc is normally due to coding changes which the device in question either cannot support or might be capable of but its manufacturer does not issue an upate. Getting a Roku is the best soution as they are reasonably cheap and quite regularly so ar updated IME.
The iPlayer has plenty of UHD programmes, but Dolby seems to be asking a high price for Dolby 5.1 sound online, so also agree the BBC and other broadcasters should hold out for a better deal, However Sky, Netflix and others have paid, but only with Premium price subscriptions which the BBC cant ask for.

Whether someone logs in or not all devices on the internet can be traced instantly. The technology is there and used by online shops, banks, etc. They can monitor and look into anything. Your location is often tracked or given away by " cookies" on your device and the ISP you use, hence you get local adverts cone up.
S4C provides English commentary for selected matches via the red button. This Sunday for instance, the listings for Rugby at 12:50 and Football at 14:35 both state "English sound-track available via the red button on Sky, Freeview or Virgin Media". There doesn't appear to be a way to watch with English commentary via iPlayer however.
Depends on the Sky Q Box model. Obviously if the Q box is not UHD compatible then the Iplayer will not support 4k, but also some of the UHD HDR boxes also do not support BBC Iplayer 4k. I believe the v3 UHD Boxes should have a version of the BBC iPlayer that plays UHD - although I think the discussions we have had have tended to discuss the 2TB version but AFAIK the 1TB & 2TB are the same bar the HDD size. We do know the v1 & V2 2TB boxes do not have a UHD capable version of iplayer. Report post.
